Help for Link Stats

“Link Stats” is one of the menu items in Advanced mode. As many of you are aware the quality and number of inbound links to a website are an important part of the algorithms for current search engines. The function behind this link creates a new page with link stats about the website’s home page.

“Backlinks on Google” uses a unique syntax to determine the number of inbound links showing up in Google. We are not using the official link: operator because Google only returns a sample of known links not the entire inventory. The syntax we use is “website minus site:website”. This searches for all references to the website and subtracts out all listings of the site itself. Manual variations will give you different results. Try putting quotes around the URL or dropping the www’s.

“Pages Indexed by Google” uses Google’s site: operator. This is a very useful function to see how big a site is - how many pages Google has indexed. In addition you can quickly review the format of listings in the SERPs to see if the title, description or page snippet, and URL have been optimized with keywords.

“Backlinks on Yahoo” creates a new page on Yahoo’s Site Explorer. Normally, you would need a Yahoo login account to access this useful too but with SEO-Browser you don’t need to login. Yahoo calls backlinks, Inlinks. Typically, we manually adjust the menu item Show Inlinks to list all Inlinks Except from this domain. This will give you all the links to the page you are reviewing.

“Pages Indexed by Yahoo uses the same tool but returns Pages instead. This function is similar to the Google site: command. The value is in comparing results between Google and Yahoo.
